Kindle 4 Release Date
When will the Kindle 4 be released?
We do not know this, but my supposition is:
Kindle 4 release date will be between September 2011 and November 2011.
There are a lot of rumors in the web. Here the Kindle history:
- Kindle - 19 November 2007 (15 months live)
- Kindle 2 - 23 February 2009 (19 months live)
- Kindle 3 - 27 August 2010 (for now 12 months)
- Kindle 4 - somewhere between September 2011 - November 2011
To be more precise:
I expect Kindle 4 in September 2011
What will be advance of the new Kindle ?
Kindle 4 Color
New Kindle will come with a color screen E Ink Triton. Triton is the newest E-Ink screen technology - it can display 4096 colors and have low-power performance. These colors will be completely enough to read comics, color magazines and color books. The color screen will improve also browser performance. All these advantages combined with the fact display is not backlit will make Kindle 4 a serious competitor for tablets.
Kindle 4 Touch
Another feature that Kindle fans expect is touchscreen. The touchscreen allow to move a qwerty keyboard over the screen (and maybe keep only side navigation buttons) which will help decrease overall Kindle height with 1" - 1,5". This is 20% smaller size and will make new Kindle a more portable ever. Also is possible to come with the same dimensions, but larger screen size 7".
Kindle 4 Memory
In contrast to most eReaders, Kindle 3 has no memory card slot. I expect new Kindle 4 will comes with memory card slot. For me this is a "must have" function because, it is not expense and will allow expand memory to 16 GB or 32 GB like in tablets. This is enough to store a lot music and images together with ebooks.
Kindle 4 or Tablet ?
The most important advantage of Kindle is E-Ink display that not harm your eyes. It is more natural that all LED LCD displays with backlit. With new color touchscreen and memory card slot Kindle 4 will be serious competitor for tablets. Many customers will prefer Kindle 4, cause it will cover most tablet functions plus amazing E-Ink screen. The tablets advantages still be fast screen - for movies and games. But we need wait new Kindle to be released to make comparison.
I want also some type of integrated light or backlit... that can be turn on in darkness.
